Take a walk on the wild side. Begin to enjoy the wilderness either alone or with a friend and/or family. A firm foundation in backcountry safely is the key to confidence and enjoyment in the wilderness.

This program provides a safe place to learn, ask questions, and practice backcountry basics, so you can start to develop your own style of wilderness travel and exploration. Topics covered will include: safety, sanitation, equipment selection, map/compass/GPS use, backcountry cuisine, leadership considerations, and special health issues for women and/or children. In addition to collecting the basic first aid materials you need in your pack, we’ll discuss what to do with that nasty blister, insect bite, or sunburn.
